This book was written with great respect and love to his wife, but also a real look inside the daily life caring for spouse with early onset Alz. The book brought me to tears several times thinking of my father who is currently caring for my mother with Early onset Alz while continuing to work everyday. I do believe Carmen would be proud of this lovely book!

While I enjoyed the book and found it interesting enough to finish it, I have read other books dealing with personal Alzheimer's experiences that I found more riveting.
I'm a clinical neuropsychology doctoral student. This book gives rise to the insight into the phenomenal world of a brain injured person. Ice Cream in the Cupboard describes how neurological degenerative disorders effects not only the patients life, but the entire family. This touching read will leave you wanting to get involved in Alzheimer's research and understand the complexities that lie within the experiences of people who suffer brain impairment.
This book bought me to tears. A truly inspirational love story, written in such a way that it pulls at your heart strings and takes you on this journey of both joy and grief. Of all the books I've read in this field, this is the most compelling. A must read for both patient and caregiver - bring out the tissues before you start reading though
This book tells how it is really like living with a spouse with Alzheimer. Read the book then when the move comes out go see it. I saw the preview of the up coming movie the actors and actresses were unbelievably great.
I am going to give this a 5 star instead of a 4 star but I think Mr. Moffett glossed over a lot of the disease and what he and his family went through. I know how Alzheimer's is affecting a friend who's husband has early onset and it is so much worse for the caregiver and children than Mr. Moffett portrays. Of course if he wrote how bad it really is, nobody could read it. It is a very sad situation that many of us born between the late '40s through early '60s will have to deal with. Read this book and get prepared for yourself or a loved one. Such a sad disease; hopefully science will find a cure sooner than later.
